We have an important update regarding the Moonbeam Treasury Program that we would like to share with you.
As many of you know, the current term of the Moonbeam Treasury Program was renewed from April 27, 2023, and is set to end on October 31, 2023, with a standard 6-month duration. However, we have been working on improving the Treasury Program’s operations to better serve the Moonbeam ecosystem and community.
Proposed Changes and Updates:
1. Extension of Current Treasury Council Term: To align our program more effectively with the needs of the Moonbeam community, we are proposing a one-month extension to the current Treasury Council’s mandate. This means that the current Treasury Council’s term, which was initially set to end on October 31, 2023, will be extended to November 30, 2023. This extension will allow for a smoother transition and the implementation of some important changes.
2. Introduction of Election Process for Treasury Council Members: In an effort to further decentralize and democratize the governance of the Moonbeam Treasury, we will be introducing an election process for Treasury Council members. The election process will take place during the extension month (November 2023), giving our community members the opportunity to participate in selecting the council members.
3. One-Month Gap in December: With the one-month gap in December, we think that it is unlikely that there will be any proposal submissions. If, by any chance, proposals are submitted during this month, they will be reviewed by the new council members in the upcoming term starting in January 2024.
We believe that these changes will strengthen the governance and decision-making processes of the Moonbeam Treasury Program, making it more inclusive and responsive to the community’s needs.
We will provide further details and guidelines on the election process in the coming days. Your active participation in this process is essential, and we encourage all community members to get involved in shaping the future of the Moonbeam Treasury Program.
