The Great Escape is a hyper-casual platformer game leveraging the Polkadot and Moonbeam tech stack to reduce the entry barriers to Web3 gaming, thus creating a new generation of games based on an accessible model:

Free-to-play
Gas-less
Wallet-less (players can join without a wallet, they create one when they off-ramp)
Chain-agnostic (players can join the game from any chain)
Offers rewards in any token (players can claim rewards in their preferred token).

The game is currently being tested in closed beta by over 2000 players out of which 250-300 are active on a monthly basis, totaling over 30.000 game sessions played each month.

Metrics & Strategy to improve (users/TX/TVL):

New players on-boarded

We will use the PINK token allocation to on-board more new testers by incentivizing new registrations with a small PINK token reward for people registering between February 18th, 2024 and March 31st, 2024.

Increase of the TX (more game sessions played):

Existing players will also be rewarded by receiving additional PINK token rewards based on their best accumulated score of the week, which will incentivize them to play more and generate more in-game transactions.

Token allocation/distribution plan

30% of our PINK allocation will be offered to new players registered. We will allocated 30/6 weeks = 5% per week divided equally between all the new players registered during that week.

The remaining 70% of the $Pink token will be distributed through the weekly prize pool during 6 weeks of the distribution campaign. Players will be able to claim their rewards at the end of each week based on their performance (only the TOP 100 best accumulated scores of the week will be entitled to receive PINK rewards).

I have a few questions, simply to ensure more transparency:

could you elaborate on your strategies for attracting new users to register and play?

for the top 100 players receiving weekly rewards, how do you ensure that this system does not disproportionately favor highly skilled or more experienced players, potentially discouraging newer or less skilled players?

how will the process of calculating and distributing rewards be transparent and verifiable? what mechanisms are in place to ensure the integrity of this process?

Thank you for your questions, here is what we have to answer regarding them:

1. Could you elaborate on your strategies for attracting new users to register and play?

We plan on organizing an awareness campaign around the fact the Great Escape will be part of the Moonbeam projects distributing PINK to it users.

This will include the creation of dedicated banners, several Twitter posts and the publication of a medium article to explain the details of our PINK distribution scheme over the following 6 weeks.

We will edit our registration page to include a mention saying that all new users registering now will receive a small PINK airdrop by joining the game in order to motivate people to register and play.

2. For the top 100 players receiving weekly rewards, how do you ensure that this system does not disproportionately favor highly skilled or more experienced players, potentially discouraging newer or less skilled players?

We decided to allocate 70% of our Pink allocation to game the game rewards available to all players, but the newer, less experienced players will be able to access 30% of the Pink allocation, which we believe will create a fair system for both newcomers and OGs.

While it is true that more skilled players will be slightly favored in the process, we would like to point out that the nature of the Great Escape makes allows the players to learn how to master it in a very short period of time.

Moreover, we also decided to allocate the rewards to the best accumulated scores of the week vs the best single scores as it relies less on the skills of the players but rather on how actively they have been playing the game on a given week. As the leaderboard is reset each week, all the players stand a decent chance to end up with a good ranking if they play on a daily basis.

3.How will the process of calculating and distributing rewards be transparent and verifiable? what mechanisms are in place to ensure the integrity of this process?

Regarding the 30% allocated to the new players registering:

As our distribution campaign will run for 6 weeks, we will simply divide the 30% by 6, allocating 5% for each week that the campaign will last.

This will be easily trackable on-chain, as all new registrations imply the creation of an on-chain player’s wallet. All new players will be required to play a minimum of 3 game sessions to be eligible for a reward.

At the end of each week, we will simply take all of these new wallets and divide the 5% by the numbers of newly registered wallets to obtain the amount that will be sent them.

For the 70% allocated to the best 100 accumulated scores of the week:

We will allocate 70/6 = 11.67% of the PINK tokens for each of the 6 weekly prize pools.

The rewards will be distributed following the same distribution mechanism that we use to send the weekly GLMR rewards on our game. As each player necessarily have a internal player’s wallet, we will send their share of Pink token to that address. They will be able to claim their prizes by either clicking on the rewards button in-game or by going directly to the “claim rewards” page on our website.
