Moonbeam Español: Activating the Hispanic Web3 Community

Moonbeam Español: Reactivating the Hispanic Web3 Community
Proposer: Brandon Filth

Abstract :
This proposal seeks to reactivate Moonbeam’s official Spanish-speaking social media channels (X and Telegram), which have been inactive since 2023. A four-month content and business development (BD) strategy will be implemented, including $200 USD monthly for community dynamics (smart contract deployment contests and ideathons), aiming to position Moonbeam as the premier multi-chain EVM hub for developers in Latin America and Spain.

Motivation :
The Hispanic community represents one of the fastest-growing markets in Web3. The prolonged inactivity of Moonbeam’s Spanish communication channels limits awareness of its EVM functionality, XCM cross-chain messaging, and its role as the Polkadot gateway. It’s crucial to reactivate these channels with a specific prize budget to directly incentivize developers, ensuring Moonbeam actively attracts EVM builders and remains competitive in this key region

**Project Overview and Team Experience: **
The four-month project focuses on a comprehensive reactivation and growth strategy for X and Telegram, covering:

  1. Content Generation: Create high-quality educational content (infographics, threads, short-form reels) explaining Moonbeam’s unique value proposition (EVM, XCM) and its use for developers.

  2. Community Incentives: Execute monthly dynamics ($200 USD/month) such as ideathons and smart contract deployment contests to stimulate direct network activity.

  3. Community Management & BD: Moderate and energize channels and actively attract Hispanic EVM developers, startups, and DAOs to build on Moonbeam.

Team Experience

Brandon Filth will be solely responsible for executing the strategy, combining technical support, development, and community management functions:

  • Technical and Ecosystem Experience: Background in Computer Engineering and QA. He has been involved in the Polkadot/Substrate ecosystem for three years, developing tools like Polkabot.

  • Event Participation: Collaborated at key regional events, including Polkadot at Talent Land Guadalajara, Google Devs Puebla Side Event, and served as a mentor at the Nerdconf Monterrey hackathon.

**Rationale: **
The reactivation of Moonbeam en Español will add critical value to the ecosystem by converting awareness into adoption. Specifically, it will:

  • Accelerate EVM Developer Adoption: The prize dynamics ($200 USD/month) will create a direct funnel for EVM developers to test and deploy their first contracts on Moonbeam.

  • Increase Network Activity: Campaigns focused on smart contract deployment will generate verifiable on-chain activity.

  • Foster Decentralization: Ensure broader participation of the Hispanic community in Moonbeam’s governance and voting processes.

Overall Cost : The total requested cost for the four-month project is $3,200 USD. The total monthly cost is $800 USD.

Future Projections and Community Engagement

This four-month proposal is designed as a pilot period to demonstrate measurable results and the value of focused Hispanic community management. The continuation and potential refinancing of this initiative for subsequent periods will be contingent upon the positive evaluation and support from the Moonbeam community, based on the achieved KPIs and the impact report delivered at the end of this phase.

I am fully committed to the success of this project and am open to suggestions from the community and the Treasury Council to adapt the strategy as needed. I am also available to answer any questions regarding the budget, strategy, or deliverables.

Hey @Brandon_Filth

At OnFinality, we’ve just launched our website in Spanish and would be happy to jump on any Spanish language initiatives or videos with Moonbeam if this kicks off

Hey, sure thing Brandon Filth.

The Council appreciates the initiative, but compensation for “translation and promotion of governance proposals” is not something the Moonbeam Treasury funds.

Any modern browser provides flawless English–Spanish translation instantly and at zero cost.
The proposed 25% for “planning” and another 25% for “KPI data and report” are trivial tasks using AI and nowhere near an 80-hour commitment.

Beyond these time estimates, there is very little tangible value-add for the Moonbeam ecosystem that would justify Moonbeam Treasury funding.
Its resources must be reserved for funding essential infrastructure and important initiatives.

Despite the probably disappointing news, we hope you understand that this simply isn’t something the Treasury can pay for.

I have noticed a potential misunderstanding regarding the proposal. I am not “charging for translation.” The proposal is focused on re-activating the Spanish-speaking community, which has been literally dead since 2023. As you can see in the proposal, I detailed a plan for social media re-activation and optional monthly incentives for the community. The proposal goes far beyond a simple translation; it’s the total re-activation of a forgotten community (almost an entire continent).

Your proposal was understood correctly.

That was the impression I got because of the comment about free browser translators. My proposal is not about text translation; it is geared toward revitalizing the Hispanic community as a community manager, which is far more than just translating documents or proposals.

I understand this might not be a priority for funding, but you really should take some action, as you are neglecting a community that covers nearly an entire continent. Adoption cannot happen without a dedicated strategy for growth and maximum outreach.
