Cody Hoskin (a.k.a code)

Timezone:

English Language Proficiency:
ILR Level 4

Committee Position:
Ecosystem Expert

Qualifications:

  • Computer Information Systems Security diploma, Canada.
  • Bachelor of Science from Mount Royal University, Canada.
  • Kilt Protocol Collator (codenode)
  • Digital Artist with Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop, Blender 3D, and others.

Background:
Hello, Im code.
I am 37 years old and born in Alberta, Canada. I achieved 8 years of post secondary education and have been pushing towards my ultimate goal of becoming a digital entrepreneur. Last year I sold everything I owned and moved to Asia to save as much money as I can while I go all in to create new Dapps and blockchain games. I am a blockchain collator and I am currently building out the Ku Collection - Kuverse marketplace and gaming economy on Moonbeam.

I fell in love with coding after graduating from the cyber security program and now I commonly get ‘in the zone’. You know that mystical space where time doesn’t exist because you are so deep in what you love doing? It’s a rare gift to wish your work day was longer but I am grateful for it. I crave growth and I am addicted to learning everything.

Code of Conduct:
I will uphold the code of conduct and promise to always conduct myself in a respectful manor.

Experience:
My passion for creating in web3 started in 2020 when I created one of the very first NFT collections on Kusama via the Singular marketplace called the Ku Collection. I created it simply to promote Kusama, and at the time it became very popular. I made a second collection called Ku Eggs that also sold out instantly. All the original Ku Collectors received a Ku Egg airdrop. Collectors will be able to hatch them on the new Kuverse Marketplace that is launching on Moonbeam very soon. It is currently in testing mode on Moonbase Alpha which utilizes thirdweb connect and account abstraction so that any web2 user can sign in and recieve a new account seamlessly in a few clicks.

I am the very first kilt collator in Canada. I built a base of experience in running a blockchain node. I was chosen for this position because at the time I created a lot of memes for many projects including Polkadot, Moonriver, Kilt, and more. My artistic support was noticed by the Kilt team where they used some of my memes in their presentations. I even won a few meme competitions.

Motivation:
After graduating from cyber security I fell in love with coding and the magic of creating something from nothing. I need to learn everything so I can build anything! It’s one of the most fulfilling feelings I can think of. I have been involved with the polkadot ecosystem since 2020 as an investor and serious Twitter meme artist. If I am selected I will rebrand my socials to promote Moonbeam as a committee member, and even create new marketing materials like logo animations and explanations about the technology.

An even greater motivation of mine is to find a solid team of like minded friends where we can all collaborate, create, and bounce ideas around. The more they bounce, the better the ideas become. I believe as a lone-wolf we limit our potential. I want to be apart of something bigger than myself and provide the best value to the planet and to the team.

To summerize, I see myself as a technical creative building an NFT marketplace and gaming economy on Moonbeam with the ultimate goal of seamlessly onboarding users through account abstraction and creating addicting and easy to play games. I believe blockchain will become mainstream when the end user doesn’t know they are using a blockchain.

Conflicts of Interest:
There are no potential conflicts of interest.

Availability:
Available at anytime. You have my full commitment.

hey @code4953 - i just read your candidacy post and I’m stoked to see you’re applying!

I’ve personally known code from the Moonbeam Discord, where he’s always an active community member, jumping into convos and staying up-to-date with everything Moonbeam

I also remember you mentioning that you’re aiming to go full-time in web3, while this isn’t full-time or a typical job, it’s a flexible and impactful opportunity

best of luck, ser!
