Correcting the Narrative: Moonbeam’s True Role in the Multi-Chain World

Lately, it’s quite common to see Moonbeam described as a “bridge,” “gateway,” or even a “rollup.” This is misleading and creates the wrong perception of what Moonbeam really is.

A couple of examples from the market:
• The host of CryptoStrategy—one of the most respected crypto channels in the RU segment—publicly said he sold all his GLMR after news of Snowbridge, claiming “the Moonbeam bridge is no longer needed.”
• On X, The Dots published L2 transaction volume stats for Polkadot and listed Moonbeam alongside rollups and L2s.

In reality, Moonbeam is a fully EVM compatible L1 powered by Polkadot, not an L2 and not a bridge!
Key features:
• 100% authentic Ethereum compatibility: the same addresses, the same tools, just on Polkadot.
• Full access to Polkadot’s security and interoperability.
• Ability to run any dApp, not just transfer tokens.

Suggestion:
Let’s avoid using terms like “bridge,” “bridging,” “gateway,” and “rollup” when talking about Moonbeam. Instead, position it as a fully EVM compatible L1 powered by Polkadot or “the universal hub for dApps between Polkadot and Ethereum.” This way, developers and investors can better understand Moonbeam’s true value.
