are you serious? by saying “ROI” and “just mint some NFTs” showing first you are not here long enough, then why should any nft project raise millions in Vcs, Secondly, you have not read the proposal thoroughly, its not just nfts, it had been listed one by one clearly. And your accusations are baseless and intensions are suspicious, if lordglmr wanted money he could just kept glmr reward from node and not distribute and hiring team on own pocket before. You are posting attack on individuals with prejudice but not discussing with truth and knowledge. We all want the best for the ecosystem, but please remain logical.

But where is the game today?

but where is the game today?

Absolutely! The game is still in its early development stages, but we’re making solid progress across three key areas:

  1. Smart Contracts: We’re deep in the exploration phase, experimenting with over 30 smart contracts for full-on chain operation and transparency, courtesy of Moonbeam. We’re in the thick of rigorous testing for these contracts, looking at both functionality and security. Changes are a part of the process and we’re embracing that, so these contracts are not finalized yet.

  2. Frontend: We’ve got the bare bones of the platform defined, but there’s still a lot of development and polish to come.

  3. Backend (Hosting, etc): For now, we’re laying the groundwork for our backend to ensure it can handle 99.9% availability and provide robust security upon launch. As we inch closer to the release date, we’re expecting to see many tweaks and changes here too.

So, it’s fair to say we’re still on the first few pages of this exciting journey. We’re diligently testing, iterating, and adjusting as we go, with an eye on providing a top-tier user experience when we eventually launch the game.

While we’re in the early stages of development for this game, it’s important to mention that our team is composed of dedicated gamers who have ample experience in developing gaming products. From being gamers to becoming creators in the gaming world, we’re always keeping a close eye on successful projects to learn and adapt the best practices.

We’re not just building this game - we’re living it. And this deep-rooted understanding of the gaming landscape makes us confident in applying our learnings in a meaningful way. We’re not just relying on our past experiences; we’re learning every day, staying flexible, and continuously adapting to ensure the game is as good as it can be.

Perhaps most importantly, we’re not just aiming to deliver a game - we’re also building a community. Our understanding of what players want, our technical expertise, and our passion for gaming fuels our confidence that we can create a game that doesn’t just work well, but also deeply engages our community.

In a nutshell, the game is still taking shape, it’s evolving day by day, and it’s a product of our collective experiences, learnings, and enthusiasm. It’s an exciting journey, and we’re more than ready to navigate through it to a successful launch.

Hi TFA DAO team,

thank you for submitting your proposal. After reviewing the proposal and reviewing what online information about the team and their past projects is available, the Grant Committee has the following questions and feedback.

The Revised Grant Program calls for several pieces of information to be provided as part of the template. Your application is missing a lot of important information and detail that would be required to give the community greater transparency and reassurance while reviewing your application. The following feedback / questions are organized by the relevant section of the proposal. The responses from TFA DAO members to the proposal in the forum have also been considered while creating this feedback.

Please also be aware that some of the questions are broken into the two separate proposed initiatives (Game and Community Events), and this fact has led to the request of more clarification.

Feedback on Proposal

Goal:

We specifically would like teams to pick one (and only one) of the following two options as the main goal for their application:

  • Maintain and Grow Activity (active users, transactions, TVL)

OR

  • Building Connected Contracts Use Cases (using XCM and other message passing protocols)

Two goals are listed at the start of the Ecosystem Grant section of the proposal, of which one does not conform to one of the required goals.

  • Will you please clarify which of the two goals is the primary goal?

  • Will you please provide specific details on how each of the two proposal initiatives (new Moonpets game and Community Events) align and will help accomplish the stated goal of the grant?

Project Description:

TFA DAO is will known in many parts of the community and ecosystem. It’s also well known that by the nature of their decentralized structure, DAOs are likely have many members with many diverse viewpoints and views. The grants program states that projects applying for grants will have greater success if they can demonstrate “alignment and respect with Moonbeam Guiding Principles (outlined above [in the original grants program post]), Moonbeam’s Code of Conduct”.

Does TFA DAO have its own code of conduct for DAO members, or does it algin with Moonbeam’s Guiding Principles?

Gaming Initiative (650,000 GLMR)

The proposal provides one mockup of a Moonpet in various orientations, but there is very little information about the game itself.

  • Where can we find details on the game itself, or understanding that the game is in the design phase, will you please provide details here of expected gameplay mechanics, gameplay loops. It’s was also stated that “artists and researchers have been working on this project since last year” and so it should be expected that more detail can be provided to the community.

  • It’s mentioned that Moonpets v2 is being created. Will the game be playable with Moonpets v1 NFTs? Does Moonpets v2 include a new NFT collection? More details on v1 vs v2, and any info on how this fits in with the game mechanics, and NFT sales will be helpful to fully understand the NFT aspect of the game.

  • It is stated that there are MPET tokens for staking. Is there a planned token launch with the game that will serve the in-game mechanics, and if so, please detail the tokenomics of MPET token.

  • What platforms will the game is being developed for? (PC, Mobile, Console, Browser, etc).

  • It is mentioned that “our vision is to create a seamless gaming experience where the underlying blockchain technology is abstracted?” Will you please provide more detail on this statement, including off-chain and on-chain components and how this relates to the gameplay experience?

  • Do you require specific wallet integrations, oracles, on/off ramps or gaming SDKs?

  • Is your game aimed purely at web3 users or also at web2 gamers?

  • If web2 gamers, how do you plan to overcome some of the current web3 learning curve and UX friction?

  • It’s stated that TFA DAO is currently in collaboration with Pirate Nation. Will you please provide more details of the stated partnership and how it relates to the grant proposal?

  • It was noted by the community that the original proposal for the Community Events initiative was 300k GLMR, and only changed to 650k GLMR when someone pointed out that the total 500k was below the threshold. A justification was provided for the increase – so that TF DAO could avoid ties with VC funding. Will more clarity be provided on this, in how it will help benefit the community and help achieve the stated goal.

Community Events Initiative (350,000 GLMR)

  • Swag giveaways - Please provide information on the format of these giveaways, such as what determines eligibility, who will be targeted, how will marketing and promoting be handled, etc.

  • Other collaborations - 20% of the request is allocated to other collaborations but there is very little detail on this. Please provide additional information on how these collaborations would be run (what type of incentives, how are dApps selected to participate, any teams that TFA DAO has been in discussion with for these collaborations).

  • It was noted by the community that the original request for the Community Events initiative was 200k GLMR, and only changed to 350k GLMR when someone pointed out that the total 500k was below the threshold. Assuming the original request for 200k GLMR had a thought out budget, how did this budget change when it was increased to 350k GLMR.

Motivation

  • It is mentioned that the grant will allow for “engaging users positively on multiple platforms”. Will you please elaborate on what you mean by multiple platforms?

  • The proposal states that the game will take a P2E model, however, this web3 gaming model has faltered in recent months. Please explain why you are confident that deploying the Moonpets game in this model will be successful and attract new users to Moonbeam.

Project Overview and Relevant KPIs

Project Overview and Relevant KPIs - brief description of project including historical KPIs on protocol traction and success to date on Moonbeam.

The proposal template includes Project Overview and Relevant KPIs. The proposal has a Project Overview section, but does not include any Relevant KPIs.

  • Please update the proposal with this section with any relevant KPIs (e.g., number of unique addresses holding Moonpets NFTs, total minted, any other historical KPIs which are relevant to both the Community Events and Game initiatives for your proposal).

  • KPIs on previous TFA DAO events that benefitted the community.

Team Experience

  • Will you please provide details on the team’s experience specific to building and delivering Web3 games and gaming and Web3 in general?

  • Will the team use any 3rd parties to deliver components of the project, or will all of the work to deliver the game be sourced from TFA DAO members, or some other way?

Timeline and Milestones for Use of Grant

The proposal includes an overall start and end date for the Community Events to run, and start and end for the Games initiative, but does not include any timebound milestones for the Game.

  • Based on the overall information provided, please provide estimated dates on when milestones will be achieved in the form of a timeline for each initiative (Games and Community Events).

Vision of Success

The proposal template includes Vision of Success section which is missing from the proposal. Please update the proposal with this section.

Vision Of Success - description of what success looks like if the team receives and executes on the Ecosystem Grant Proposal, clearly defines the suitable metrics to measure success, addresses the sustainability and growth of the protocol after the grant expires, and describes grand vision for the protocol / company over a 2 to 5 year period

  • Where can we see a roadmap of the Moonpets game?

  • Please rewrite this section using SMART goals. Please provide specific user, transaction or other volume targets over an extended period of time for the Game initiative, and for the Community Events initiative once they are aligned with one of the two goals in the Goals section.

  • How will the game become self-sustaining or what is the revenue model for funding on-going operational costs and future upgrades.

Rationale

The proposal template includes a Rationale section which is missing from the proposal. Please update the proposal with this section.

Rationale - an explanation of how this Ecosystem Grant would add value to the Moonbeam Ecosystem, including description of how this Ecosystem Grant will advance its primary goal of either (i) Maintain and Grow Activity (active users, transactions, TVL) OR building (ii) Building Connected Contracts Use Cases (using XCM and other message passing protocols)

Steps to Implement

The proposal template includes a Steps to Implement section which is missing from the proposal. Please update the proposal with this section.

Steps to Implement - the steps to implement the proposal, including associated costs, manpower, and other resources for each step where applicable.

It’s noted that some costs and manpower has been provided, but it is lacking detail.

Games

  • The project will expect to pay $70.31 per hour rate for a blockchain developer, but that does not translate into a cost breakdown for other components (e.g. “1. Launch preparation and marketing activities: 160 hours”, “1. Artwork and visual design: 114 hours”). Will you please provide more info on how the grant will be used to fund various components and the specific costs needed to deliver the game?

  • How would the team react to a situation where the game is overbudget and grant funds are used up?

Community Events

  • A list has been provided for the swag (e.g. $25/T-Shirt, $30/embroidered hat), and it is stated that the swag would be sourced from the TFA swag store. Based on the forum comments, it seems there is some concern with these figures, and more clarity on them would be helpful. The numbers seem align with the pricing in the TFA store (less either $5 or $8 flat-rate shipping), so it would be useful to understand if the quoted numbers in the proposal are based on the retail prices charged by the TFA swag store including margin, or bulk costs to the TFA Store plus shipping, or do they represent some other figure.

  • 10% of the allocation is stated to go to “Card Games (Poker)”. Will you please provide details on the delivery of the card games and tournaments?

  • NFT Giveaways: Please provide detail on how the grant will be used for these giveaways (will the grant be used to purchase or mint new NFTs, or for management of the giveaway, or for some other purpose)?

  • Token Airdrops: How will be eligibility determined for airdrops?

  • Extra Staking Rewards for the whole network - please provide more details on how this would work in terms of amount of the grant that would be allocated to this, and implementation.

  • Is it proposed that the crypto course will be funded by the grant, or is this something outside of the scope of the proposal? If it is in scope, please provide details on the allocation of the grant for this purpose.

  • Will the TFA DAO provide transparency for the distribution of the grant funds, and if so, please provide specific details on how this will be accomplished.

UPDATES TO PROPOSAL

Please note that you have until July 14th, 11:59 PM UTC to make changes to your proposal. A list of changes based on community feedback should be added to the “Updates’’ section of the proposal and any changes should be reflected in the text of the proposal itself

Hi Jim, I hope you’re doing well. We have forwarded the questions to the relevant personnel in charge, and we have collected the following answers. I believe this information will address all of your questions, and we will update our proposal accordingly soon. Thank you for taking the time to help us create a clear proposal. We genuinely appreciate your assistance.

  • Goal:

We specifically would like teams to pick one (and only one) of the following two options as the main goal for their application:

Maintain and Grow Activity (active users, transactions, TVL) Will you please clarify which of the two goals is the primary goal?

Our primary goal is to have active users, transactions, and TVL (Total Value Locked), as mentioned in our draft. We aim to conduct community giveaways to attract new users, and the Moonpets game will be leveraged to retain them and encourage network usage. This will bring mutual benefits to both the users and the network.

  • Will you please provide specific details on how each of the two proposal initiatives (new Moonpets game and Community Events) align and will help accomplish the stated goal of the grant?

Giveaways have a significant impact on attracting new users. We believe that a year-long giveaway plan would be perfect for creating a solid user base. However, we also recognize that retaining users without a product can be challenging. This is where our idea comes in: building a game created by gamers themselves, but not just any ordinary game. We aim to develop something new and innovative, introducing the concept of proof of play.

We have conducted thorough research on how this concept works and how to implement it. We understand the complexity involved in developing such a game, but we are committed to ensuring that the final result aligns perfectly with our expectations and proves to be valuable for the adoption of the Moonbeam network.

In summary, the new Moonpets game and Community Events initiatives are designed to work in synergy to achieve the grant’s stated goal. While the Moonpets game acts as a powerful driver for user adoption and engagement, the Community Events initiative serves as a catalyst for onboarding new users and promoting community interaction. Together, these initiatives will help create a thriving and active ecosystem within Moonbeam, attracting and retaining users while fueling the desired growth in activity, transactions, and total value locked (TVL).

  • Project Description:

TFA DAO is well known in many parts of the community and ecosystem. It’s also well known that by the nature of their decentralized structure, DAOs likely have many members with many diverse viewpoints and views. The grants program states that projects applying for grants will have greater success if they can demonstrate “alignment and respect with Moonbeam Guiding Principles (outlined above [in the original grants program post]), Moonbeam’s Code of Conduct”.

Does TFA DAO have its own code of conduct for DAO members, or does it align with Moonbeam’s Guiding Principles?

TFA DAO aligns with Moonbeam’s Guiding Principles and adheres to the Moonbeam Code of Conduct. Our members understand the importance of fostering an open and welcoming environment and treating all community participants with respect and dignity. We promote the use of welcoming and inclusive language, respect for differing viewpoints, and the acceptance of constructive criticism. We emphasize empathy and strive to create a positive and collaborative atmosphere for all individuals involved in our DAO activities.

As a decentralized organization, TFA DAO embraces diverse viewpoints and encourages open discussions while maintaining the principles of respect, inclusivity, and professionalism. We recognize the significance of upholding the community’s values and ensuring alignment with Moonbeam’s goals and objectives.

Moreover, we fully endorse and uphold Moonbeam’s Guiding Principles, including inclusivity, engagement, transparency, and the greater good of the ecosystem. These principles guide our decision-making processes and drive our commitment to advancing the adoption, utilization, and development of the Moonbeam Network.

TFA DAO operates with a strong ethical compass, and we are committed to abiding by the principles and values set forth by Moonbeam. We recognize the importance of maintaining a cohesive and respectful community environment that fosters collaboration, innovation, and growth for the benefit of the entire ecosystem.

  • Gaming Initiative (650,000 GLMR)

The proposal provides one mockup of a Moonpet in various orientations, but there is very little information about the game itself.

Where can we find details on the game itself, or understanding that the game is in the design phase, will you please provide details here of expected gameplay mechanics, gameplay loops. It was also stated that “artists and researchers have been working on this project since last year” and so it should be expected that more detail can be provided to the community.

It’s challenging to provide a complete product description within the limited character count, but we’ll do our best to give an overview. The game’s logic posed a greater challenge than the technology itself, since our primary focus was to ensure the game was enjoyable. We aimed to create a game that doesn’t require extensive time commitment but is enjoyable for everyone. As stated, POP (Proof-of-Play) is a new technology where the game operates fully on the blockchain.

The Moonpets Game is an exciting and immersive online gaming experience set in treasure hunt adventures. The game aims to provide players of all ages with an engaging and rewarding gaming environment while fostering a strong community. Centered around the exploration of various maps, each with its own unique challenges and treasures to discover, the game allows players to take on the role of Moonpets and engage in quests, battles, and strategic gameplay to progress through the game.

Our game incorporates several unique elements, including quests, daily bounties, inventory management, crafting, a log system, and, of course, the Moonpets crew. Users also simply holding the NFTs can earn rewards, which reset quarterly. Users can engage in daily activities to earn items through bounties. These items can be used in the inventory to craft additional items or skills such as special attacks, enhancing gameplay.

Additionally, regular in-game events will be held where users have to defeat map bosses to earn additional rewards and skins. We have dedicated a significant amount of time to working on the animation frames, which are still undergoing continuous improvements. Currently, we have completed 57 pet animations, with a total of 114 yet to be produced. Each animation is crafted individually due to the unique nature of the pets, which explains the time-consuming nature of the process.

While we focused on testing one map and conducted some tests on top of it, we reserved the right to adapt and make changes to align with our backend requirements. Furthermore, we aim to build a leaderboard, MPET game token, and chat features within the game.

Our game development process involves iterative design and continuous improvement based on user feedback and market demands. As we progress through the development stages, we will gather valuable insights from the community to refine and enhance the gameplay mechanics, loops, and overall player experience.

We appreciate the community’s interest in the details of the game, and we will strive to provide regular updates and more specific information as the development progresses. Our commitment is to create a captivating and innovative gaming experience that aligns with the goals of the grant proposal and delights the Moonbeam community.

Moonpets v2, the upgraded version of the game, will not render Moonpets v1 NFTs obsolete. We have designed a system where Moonpets v1 NFTs can still have value and utility within the game. Specifically, v1 NFT holders will have the ability to burn their NFTs to mint generators, which are special items exclusive to v1 holders.

Generators, residing on the blockchain, have the unique function of automatically generating transactions. By burning their v1 NFTs to mint generators, players can get these generators and start producing MPET tokens or trade the item. This mechanism allows v1 NFT holders to continue participating in the game’s ecosystem and benefit from the generation of MPET tokens.

Furthermore, Moonpets v2 will also introduce new NFT collections, expanding the variety and options available to players. These new collections will offer unique and diverse Moonpet characters, each with its own traits and attributes that can impact gameplay.

The game mechanics of Moonpets v2 will be built upon the foundation of v1 while incorporating new features and enhancements. The NFT aspect of the game will play a vital role, providing players with collectible assets that hold value and can be utilized strategically within the game.

As we progress with the development of Moonpets v2, we will provide more detailed information about how the NFT aspect, including the mechanics of NFT sales, interactions, and utility, will be integrated into the game. We aim to ensure a seamless and engaging experience for players, while also considering the broader Moonbeam ecosystem and its guiding principles.

Please note that the specifics of Moonpets v2, NFT usage, and integration may evolve during the development process to ensure the best possible gameplay experience and alignment with the goals outlined in our grant proposal.

  • It is stated that there are MPET tokens for staking. Is there a planned token launch with the game that will serve the in-game mechanics, and if so, please detail the tokenomics of MPET token.

MPET tokens will not be available for token sale and can only be minted by playing the game. Additionally, we will reward the leaderboard, and involve our TFA token, as rewards for various in-game activities. Currently, 1 TFA token equals 4.5 GLMR. The value of TFA tokens reflects our responsible treasury management. We are committed to guaranteeing a minimum of 2000 GLMR for our users every month. This calculation was based on our revenue from the past two years, ensuring that allocating this amount is sustainable for us.

The MPET token is the core token of the game, essential for users, and inflationary. Users need to burn MPET tokens to participate in activities within the game, such as crafting items and engaging in various scenarios, thereby enhancing the gameplay experience.

The MPet staking solution is not an essential element in our game logic, but there is a plan for it that has not been finalized yet. Additionally, the MPet tokens will not be pre-minted. We have allocated 10,000 TFA tokens in our treasury to be used for gaming rewards over 12 months.

  • What platforms will the game be developed for? (PC, Mobile, Console, Browser, etc)?

The Moonpets game is being developed as a browser-based game, allowing players to access and enjoy it directly through web browsers on their devices. This approach provides flexibility and ease of access, as players can engage with the game without the need for additional downloads or installations.

However, as part of our future endeavors, we are also planning to expand the availability of the game by creating dedicated mobile applications but not at this time. These mobile apps will provide a more optimized and immersive experience for players on their smartphones and tablets.

By offering both browser-based gameplay and dedicated mobile apps, we aim to cater to the preferences and convenience of a wide range of players, ensuring that they can enjoy the Moonpets game seamlessly across different platforms.

  • It is mentioned that “our vision is to create a seamless gaming experience where the underlying blockchain technology is abstracted?” Will you please provide more detail on this statement, including off-chain and on-chain components and how this relates to the gameplay experience?

The statement about creating a seamless gaming experience where the underlying blockchain technology is abstracted refers to our goal of integrating blockchain technology into the game in a way that enhances the gameplay experience without burdening players with complex technical details.

To achieve this, we will have a combination of off-chain and on-chain components in the game. Off-chain components include user interfaces, game logic, and certain game data that are managed and processed outside the blockchain. These components enable smooth and responsive gameplay, providing players with a familiar and user-friendly gaming experience.

On the other hand, we will utilize on-chain components to leverage the security, transparency, and decentralized nature of blockchain technology. This includes storing important game data, player achievements, NFT ownership, and transaction history on the blockchain. By utilizing the blockchain for these aspects, we ensure data integrity, immutability, and verifiability, allowing players to have full ownership and control over their in-game assets.

The abstraction of blockchain technology means that players won’t need to directly interact with complex blockchain processes or handle cryptocurrencies during their gameplay. Instead, they will be able to enjoy the benefits of blockchain technology in the background, such as secure asset ownership, transparent game mechanics, and the ability to verify the authenticity and rarity of their NFTs.

In summary, our vision is to seamlessly integrate blockchain technology into the Moonpets game, providing players with an enhanced gameplay experience while abstracting away the technical complexities, making it accessible and enjoyable for both blockchain enthusiasts and casual gamers alike.

  • Do you require specific wallet integrations, oracles, on/off ramps or gaming SDKs?

Absolutely, it’s clear that to create a seamless user experience and optimally functional game on the Moonbeam blockchain, several key components and integrations are pivotal:

Wallet Integrations: Our primary goal is to facilitate smooth transactions and secure management of user assets. Thus, integrating with wallets that are compatible with Polkadot and Moonbeam becomes crucial. We are considering widely used wallets like MetaMask and SubWallet, known for their compatibility and user-friendly interface.

Oracles: In our commitment to uphold total on-chain transparency, we have planned to use oracles specifically for Random Number Generation (RNG). This will ensure fairness and unpredictability in our gaming mechanics, thereby enhancing the gaming experience.

On/Off Ramps: While it’s not immediately in our roadmap, we do anticipate incorporating crypto-to-fiat and fiat-to-crypto gateway services in the future. This would allow users to easily convert their earnings in the game to traditional currency and vice versa, further enhancing the convenience for our players.

Gaming SDKs: To make the development process more efficient and ensure compatibility with different gaming platforms, we are considering the Unity SDK, a proven tool in the gaming industry. Moreover, for handling blockchain data with GraphQL, we are exploring solutions such as SubQuery. This will empower us to create, manage, and utilize blockchain-specific data effectively.

With these integrations and components, along with our team’s unwavering dedication and expertise, we believe we can deliver a blockchain gaming experience that’s enjoyable, fair, and user-friendly.

  • Is your game aimed purely at web3 users or also at web2 gamers?

We’re initially tailoring our game for the experienced Web3 gamers while thoughtfully weaving in elements that will gradually introduce and captivate the traditional Web2 audience. Our strategy, envisions a seamless future integration of Web2 gamers

  • If web2 gamers, how do you plan to overcome some of the current web3 learning curve and UX friction?

Great question. We’re well aware of the potential friction in bridging the gap between Web2 and Web3 environments. Here’s our confident yet humble plan:

Education: We aim to create easily digestible, engaging, and user-friendly educational content. This will help traditional gamers understand the advantages of Web3 and the value it brings to their gaming experience. Our resources will cover basics like setting up a crypto wallet, managing private keys, and interacting with the blockchain.

Simplified User Experience: We plan to partner with Web3 wallet providers and infrastructure projects that prioritize user experience. By integrating their services, we can offer an experience that’s as close as possible to the Web2 gaming our users are familiar with. We’ll strive for simplicity in every interaction, from setting up an account to completing transactions.

Community Support: Our community will be a key resource for new users. We plan to nurture an environment where questions are encouraged and easily answered. Active community involvement will ensure no gamer feels left behind in this transition.

Iterative Development: We know we won’t get everything right the first time. We’re committed to continually refining and improving our product based on user feedback and emerging best practices. In this rapidly evolving field, staying adaptable is key.

In summary, we’re dedicated to making the transition from Web2 to Web3 as smooth as possible for our gamers. Our plan leverages education, simplified user experience, community support, and iterative development to make this happen. We’re ready for the challenge and excited about the opportunities that await us in the Web3 space.

.

  • It’s stated that TFA DAO is currently in collaboration with Pirate Nation. Will you please provide more details of the stated partnership and how it relates to the grant proposal?

Project strategies and developments are generally deemed confidential.

Yes, We are in deliberation with Pirate Nation and are looking to be its official arm/vendor prefecture to POLKADOT as a part of Proof Of Play expansion strategy.

It serves in Moonbeam’s interest (and by extension us, its footsoldiers) to develop the innovative and disruptive technology for our chain and attract users and transform them into consumers generating TVL and transactions.

Our MoonPets game is the perfect bedrock to test the POP (Proof of Play) as we lack a large-scale interactive and dynamic co-current multiplayer game on our chain that serves as a dual channel bridge to funnel in both web2 and web3 effectively.

Pirate Nation gaming engine and its SDKs are going to be gamechanger for devs who will want to explore beyond the DeFi narrative to push moonbeam mass adoption.

This will mark a “decoupling” event from Unity based gaming engine and position Moonbeam as a harbinger of innovation, activity and fun.

PN hails disruptive tech in its arsenal and TFA through this grant is the only battle-ready unfazed and proven community that can symbiotically bring benefit to all the three vertices viz, Moonbeam, PN and users.

The additional funding of 650k GLMR for the Community Events initiative serves multiple purposes and aligns with our commitment to benefiting the community and achieving our stated goals. By increasing the grant amount, we can not only avoid ties with venture capital funding, but also ensure the sustainable growth and development of the project in a decentralized and transparent manner.

The TFA DAO’s decision to secure this funding empowers community members and promotes the adoption and development of Moonbeam without solely relying on revenue generated from selling NFTs. This approach allows us to prioritize the needs and interests of our users, ensuring a seamless gaming experience and facilitating the usage and growth of the network.

As for the NFT distribution, we are dedicated to ensuring a fair distribution model based on on-chain activities, which will be fully transparent and verifiable. The allocation of 100% of the supply will be done in a manner that upholds the principles of decentralization and inclusivity, creating opportunities for widespread community participation and engagement.

Ultimately, the increased grant amount not only provides financial support but also enables us to foster a vibrant and thriving community, attract new participants, and contribute to the sustainable growth and success of the Moonbeam ecosystem. By embracing transparency and decentralization, we can deliver an exceptional user experience and create long-term value for all stakeholders involved.

  • Community Events Initiative (350,000 GLMR) Swag giveaways - Please provide information on the format of these giveaways, such as what determines eligibility, who will be targeted, how marketing and promoting be handled, etc.

Our swag giveaways in the Community Events Initiative are designed to engage and reward members of the Moonbeam community. Eligibility for these giveaways will be open to all community members, and we will ensure a fair and inclusive process for participation. To target a diverse range of individuals, we will leverage various marketing and promotional strategies, including social media platforms, community channels, and partnerships with relevant influencers or organizations within the Moonbeam ecosystem.

The format of the giveaways will involve encouraging users to interact with the network by utilizing various features, such as bridging assets, using specific dApps, minting NFTs, and more. These initiatives will not only benefit the participants, but also contribute to the growth and utilization of the Moonbeam ecosystem. The giveaways will be conducted on-chain, with cross-verification of identity through existing dApps on Moonbeam. We are dedicated to implementing any necessary coding and building specific tools to support these efforts effectively.

Our primary goal is to attract new users to the Moonbeam network while also providing opportunities for existing users to participate. By expanding our reach through collaborations with partners on other established blockchains, we aim to maximize the impact and visibility of the giveaways. Transparency and fairness will be maintained throughout the process, with clear communication of eligibility criteria and selection procedures.

Through these swag giveaways, we seek to foster a vibrant and enthusiastic community that actively engages with the Moonbeam ecosystem. By rewarding active participation and promoting the adoption of Moonbeam’s features, we aim to create a positive and inclusive environment for all community members.

  • Other collaborations - 20% of the request is allocated to other collaborations but there is very little detail on this. Please provide additional information on how these collaborations would be run (what type of incentives, how are dApps selected to participate, any teams that TFA DAO has been in discussion with for these collaborations).

Our allocation for other collaborations aims to foster partnerships and collaborations with external dApps and projects that align with the goals and vision of the TFA DAO and the Moonbeam ecosystem. These collaborations will be run through a thorough evaluation process, considering factors such as alignment of objectives, potential synergies, track record, and overall benefit to the ecosystem.

In terms of incentives, we will tailor them to the specific nature of each collaboration. This may include providing technical support, access to resources and expertise, co-marketing opportunities, shared liquidity incentives, or other mutually beneficial arrangements. The goal is to create a win-win situation where both parties can leverage each other’s strengths to drive growth and success.

Regarding the selection process, we are actively engaged in discussions with several teams and projects. While we cannot disclose many specific names at this moment, we are seeking collaborations with projects that demonstrate innovation, value creation, and a commitment to decentralization. The selection process will involve evaluating the alignment of objectives, potential synergies, and the overall benefit to the Moonbeam ecosystem.

Additionally, we plan to leverage Web3go for relevant network metrics, enabling us to plan our strategies effectively.

As these collaborations progress and specific partnerships are formalized, we will provide regular updates to the community, sharing more details about the selected dApps and the nature of the collaborations. We aim to foster a vibrant network of interconnected projects that collectively contribute to the expansion and adoption of the Moonbeam ecosystem.

We appreciate your understanding regarding the confidential ties of the initial request. The ability to request additional funds has indeed provided us with a greater sense of security and stability, allowing us to confidently pursue the project’s goals. With the increased budget, we have the opportunity to allocate more resources towards the success of the Community Events initiative.

The additional funds will be utilized in various areas to enhance the overall impact and effectiveness of the events. These areas include:

Expanded Marketing and Promotion: With the increased budget, we can allocate more resources towards marketing and promotion efforts. This will enable us to reach a wider audience and generate greater awareness and participation in the community events.

Enhanced Giveaways and Rewards: The additional funds will allow us to offer more attractive and valuable giveaways and rewards to participants. This will incentivize active engagement and create a more rewarding experience for the community.

Collaborations and Partnerships: The increased budget provides opportunities for collaborations and partnerships with external projects and organizations. This will help us leverage synergies, expand our network, and create a stronger sense of community within the ecosystem.

By utilizing the additional funds, we aim to maximize the impact and value generated by the Community Events initiative. We are committed to ensuring responsible and transparent management of the allocated resources, and will regularly report on the utilization of funds to maintain accountability to the community.

Overall, the increased budget enables us to execute the Community Events initiative with a greater level of confidence and effectiveness, contributing to the growth and vibrancy of the Moonbeam ecosystem.

  • Motivation

It is mentioned that the grant will allow for “engaging users positively on multiple platforms”. Will you please elaborate on what you mean by multiple platforms?

Our reference to multiple platforms includes both blockchain and non-blockchain platforms. While our primary focus is on engaging users within the Moonbeam network, we also recognize the importance of reaching users outside of the blockchain space to foster adoption and growth.

Within the blockchain space, we aim to engage users on various blockchain platforms, including Moonbeam and potentially other EVM compatible networks. This includes organizing events, giveaways, and other initiatives to attract and retain users within the blockchain gaming ecosystem.

Additionally, we intend to leverage non-blockchain platforms to expand our reach and introduce new users to the benefits of blockchain technology. This can involve utilizing social media platforms such as Twitter, Telegram, and Discord to interact with the wider gaming community, share updates, and foster discussions. We may also explore partnerships and collaborations with non-blockchain gaming platforms to integrate our game and incentivize users to participate in blockchain-based activities.

Our objective is to create a seamless user experience that bridges the gap between blockchain and non-blockchain platforms, allowing users to easily interact with our project and experience the benefits of blockchain technology. By targeting multiple platforms, we aim to maximize our impact, attract a diverse user base, and promote the adoption of our initiatives across different communities and platforms.

  • The proposal states that the game will take a P2E model, however, this web3 gaming model has faltered in recent months. Please explain why you are confident that deploying the Moonpets game in this model will be successful and attract new users to Moonbeam.

Our confidence in deploying the Moonpets game in a play-to-earn (P2E) model stems from several factors and strategic considerations. We prioritize simplicity and transparency in our approach. Our token, MPET, is solely a gaming token, and we do not have the obligation to provide liquidity, allowing the community to take care of liquidity through decentralized exchanges (DEX) such as Stella and Beamswap.

Additionally, we have been working with partners like Stella and Beamswap, utilizing their dApps to list our TFA token. This collaboration enables us to tap into their existing user base and enhance the accessibility and visibility of our game.

Moreover, the gaming rewards in the Moonpets game are derived from Moonbeam node utopia and Moonpets themselves, ensuring a sustainable and trustworthy source of rewards for players. We steer clear of dubious Ponzi schemes or similar approaches, focusing on providing a genuine and rewarding gaming experience.

By focusing on simplicity, transparency, and leveraging partnerships within the Moonbeam ecosystem, we believe we can overcome some challenges faced by other P2E models. We strive to create a seamless and enjoyable gaming experience where players can earn rewards and generate value through their gameplay activities on the Moonbeam network.

In summary, our confidence in the success of the Moonpets game in a P2E model lies in our commitment to simplicity, transparency, and strategic partnerships within the Moonbeam ecosystem. We prioritize genuine rewards derived from Moonbeam node Utopia and Moonpets, while also leveraging trusted dApps like Stella and Beamswap for liquidity and listings. By focusing on these principles, we aim to provide an attractive and rewarding gaming experience for players, attracting new users to Moonbeam and the Moonpets game.

Project Overview and Relevant KPIs - brief description of project including historical KPIs on protocol traction and success to date on Moonbeam.

The proposal template includes Project Overview and Relevant KPIs. The proposal has a Project Overview section, but does not include any Relevant KPIs.

Please update the proposal with this section with any relevant KPIs (e.g., number of unique addresses holding Moonpets NFTs, total minted, any other historical KPIs which are relevant to both the Community Events and Game initiatives for your proposal).

KPIs on previous TFA DAO events that benefited the community.

TFA Token: We launched our token on December 15th, and since then, it has not reached the initial launching price of 10 cents. However, we have experienced a 1100 percent increase in dollar value and even more in GLMR. Currently, 1 TFA is equivalent to 4.5 GLMR. The TFA token is regularly repurchased as part of our tokenomics, which makes it very attractive. We currently have 397 holders, and our token is listed on major DEXs such as Stella Swap and Beam Swap, with 50k GLMR in the liquidity pool. Additionally, our token is listed on platforms like CoinGecko and CoinMarketCap.

TFA Store: Our team has built a merchandise online shop where users can buy items using GLMR. Additionally, we have obtained the Moonbeam and Moonriver licenses from the foundation. We have collaborated with more than 20 projects, including Moonbeam Ignite event, and supported BeamSwap with custom merchandise for ETH Denver. These collaborations and custom merch items can be viewed on our website. Our store provides worldwide shipping and 24/7 customer support. Since the launch, we have generated sufficient revenue to cover our expenses, development costs, and store maintenance.

The Moonpets project has achieved several key milestones and demonstrated its ability to drive engagement and foster collaboration within the Moonbeam ecosystem. Through the TFA raffle, the project attracted over 500 registered users, with a total stake of 2 million GLMR, showcasing the community’s participation and interest.

Time-Bound: Our target is to reach (80% of holders) active users by the end of 8 weeks post-launch

  • How will the game become self-sustaining or what is the revenue model for funding on-going operational costs and future upgrades.

The revenue model for the Moonpets game is designed to ensure its self-sustainability and fund ongoing operational costs as well as future upgrades. Here is an overview of the revenue model:

In-Game Transactions: The game will feature various in-game trade that players can engage in, such as purchasing items, crafting, and participating in special events. These trades will generate revenue through commissions. This aligns with the goal of increasing transaction volume and user engagement.

Tokenomics: The MPET token, which is integral to the game, will have utility within the gameplay mechanics. Players may need to burn MPET tokens to participate in activities, enhancing the gameplay experience. The circulation and use of MPET tokens can generate revenue through trading fees. This aligns with the goal of increasing the token value and creating a sustainable economic ecosystem.

In-Game Advertising and Partnerships: Strategic partnerships and collaborations with brands, projects, or advertisers can be explored to integrate non-intrusive in-game advertising or sponsorships. These partnerships can provide additional revenue streams while ensuring a positive user experience. This aligns with the goal of building collaborations and expanding the reach of the game.

Play-to-Earn Mechanics: The game’s play-to-earn mechanics allow players to earn rewards and incentives by actively participating in the game and achieving certain milestones. This incentivizes user engagement and can drive revenue through increased player activity and potentially attracting new users. This aligns with the goal of increasing user activity and attracting a larger player base.

By combining these revenue streams and carefully balancing the economic aspects of the game, the Moonpets game aims to generate sustainable revenue to cover operational costs, fund future upgrades, and ensure its long-term viability. The team’s expertise in generating revenue through nodes, the TFA store, and planned in-game sales and partnerships adds confidence to the game’s revenue model.

  • How would the team react to a situation where the game is over budget and grant funds are used up?

If the team encounters a situation where the game development exceeds the allocated budget and grant funds are fully utilized, we would take the following actions:

Assess the situation: We would carefully evaluate the reasons for the project going over budget, including any unexpected expenses, scope changes, or unforeseen challenges. Understanding the factors contributing to the budget overrun is crucial for finding a suitable solution.

Identify cost-saving measures: We would analyze the project’s expenses and identify areas where costs can be reduced or optimized without compromising the overall quality and functionality of the game. This could involve revisiting the project’s scope, prioritizing essential features, renegotiating contracts with service providers, or finding more cost-effective solutions.

Seek additional funding opportunities: If the budget shortfall cannot be resolved through cost-saving measures alone, we would explore alternative funding options. This could include seeking additional grants, partnerships, or securing private investments to bridge the financial gap. We would actively engage with the Moonbeam community, potential investors, and strategic partners to secure the necessary funding.

Communicate with stakeholders: We would maintain open and transparent communication with the grant provider, Moonbeam Foundation, and the community. We would inform them about the budget situation, the steps we are taking to address it, and any adjustments that may be required in the project timeline or scope. Clear and proactive communication would help manage expectations and ensure stakeholders are informed about the project’s progress.

Prioritize deliverables: In the event of a budget constraint, we would prioritize the most critical aspects of the game to ensure a minimum viable product (MVP) can still be delivered within the available resources. By focusing on essential features and functionalities, we can ensure that the core gameplay experience is intact, while potentially deferring non-essential or additional features to future updates.

Seek community support: We would actively engage with the Moonbeam community and seek their support in various ways, such as seeking voluntary contributions, leveraging the expertise and skills of community members, or exploring crowdfunding opportunities. The involvement and support of the community can be instrumental in overcoming budget challenges and ensuring the successful completion of the game.

We will take appropriate measures to mitigate the situation, explore alternative funding options, and maintain open communication with stakeholders to ensure the successful delivery of the Moonpets game.

  • Community Events

A list has been provided for the swag (e.g.

Thank you for bringing up this question. The amount requested for each swag item includes lifetime customer support and a reshipping arrangement, ensuring comprehensive assistance throughout the entire process. We go beyond just delivering the product to the customer; we actively monitor the journey from order placement to shipping and ensure the product is received satisfactorily. This amount covers the cost of the product itself but also 24/7 support.

Additionally, we strive to use higher quality materials and give the option to personalized items based on customer preferences using the tools available on our website. We handle the mock-up process and coordinate with fulfillment services accordingly. It’s important to note that shipping costs, which may change over time, are beyond our control. By charging the mentioned amount, we can cover all these aspects and provide a comprehensive customer experience.

  • 10% of the allocation is stated to go to “Card Games (Poker)”. Will you please provide details on the delivery of the card games and tournaments?

We are always exploring different ideas and testing them to see how the community reacts. Recently, we have organized multiple tournaments and witnessed over 100 new participants in just four tournaments. The top three players in each tournament were rewarded with TFA tokens. The positive community feedback has encouraged us to continue these tournaments as an alternative approach to attract new users to Moonbeam. We utilize a free poker platform, so there are no funds involved. It’s simply a fun activity with rewards for top players. Our aim is to host these tournaments on a bi-weekly basis for a year, which means 25 events and a final table totaling 26 tournaments.

To allocate rewards, 25% of the total amount will be dedicated to the final table. In order to be eligible to join the final table, a user must win at least one of the 25 tournaments.

However, we won’t be able to prove the winners on-chain in this case. Instead, we will keep track of transactions, users’ wallets, Telegram IDs, Twitter handles, or any relevant identification to ensure transparency and fairness.

  • NFT Giveaways: Please provide detail on how the grant will be used for these giveaways (will the grant be used to purchase or mint new NFTs, or for management of the giveaway, or for some other purpose)?

The grant funds will not be used to purchase new NFTs. Instead, we will gradually mint items for our game and organize giveaways. Moonpets V2 will be freely mintable and featured in various events. The total supply moonpets v2 Gen 1 will consist of 10,000 NFTs, which play a significant role in our roadmap.

  • Token Airdrops: How will be eligibility determined for airdrops?

As mentioned, we will conduct airdrops to reward users for their active participation on the network. These airdrops will be verified on-chain, and various tasks will be implemented to ensure the authenticity of users. We will ask users to verify their ownership of specific Moonbeam NFTs, engage in staking, and perform other metrics-based activities. These actions will earn users points, and the top users will be rewarded accordingly. We will have a clearer estimation of the rewards amount once we have the results from the snapshot.

Furthermore, we want to assure every user that the verification process will be done on-chain and will also involve verifying social media accounts. This approach ensures transparency and helps maintain a secure and genuine user community.

  • Extra Staking Rewards for the whole network - please provide more details on how this would work in terms of amount of the grant that would be allocated to this, and implementation.

We will ensure that any users staking with any node on Moonbeam can provide proof that they are staking during our events and receive rewards accordingly such as additional points. We intend to reward users who stake for longer periods and contribute to network security, not only with our node but with any other node in the set. The rewards will need to be unlocked by participating in these biweekly events verified by smart contract.

  • Is it proposed that the crypto course will be funded by the grant, or is this something outside of the scope of the proposal? If it is in scope, please provide details on the allocation of the grant for this purpose.

This is something we have actively pursued in the past for Moonbeam, and we remain committed to it. User security is our top priority, and we don’t require additional grant allocation for this purpose. We have a dedicated team that will create informative content about Moonbeam, Polkadot, and other important events related to the Moonbeam ecosystem. Our goal is to provide the best possible experience for our users.

  • Will the TFA DAO provide transparency for the distribution of the grant funds, and if so, please provide specific details on how this will be accomplished.

We will store the funds in our multisig wallet and use them when necessary. We will keep track of these transactions, and verifiable on the blockchain. Around 90% of the events and activities will be conducted on-chain, ensuring transparency and traceability. We are committed to saving all relevant information and will provide it upon request.

Sharing your code helps resolve security issues and exposes vulnerabilities (not the other way around). Can you please share it privately with @jose.crypto and @AlbertoV19

I agree with @stakebaby here - This normally don’t reflect well on the community. Open-source is a core pillar of decentralized technologies

If we decide to do it, we will inform through our official accounts. We have already exposed many details that are supposed to be private because we understand the community needs more clarity. We also believe sharing the source code could compromise our development. As it is not guaranteed that we will get the grants, we cannot make this kind of decision at this time. In case we do receive the grant, we will work to find a solution. We appreciate your feedback, and we will take this option into consideration.
Could you also provide any projects that have made their code fully open source at development phase? This would help us understand their business plan and potentially adopt it where possible.

You are asking the community to trust you with o.1% of circulation, but you don’t trust your code to a Moonbeam treasury council member and a core developer?

I ask again since i think i dont receive an answer before :raised_hands:, why not leave out the community events part or just use the previous amount and participate in a community grant?

so you can get enough to start the work and if necessary later you can try an Ecosystem Grant?

and have a more controlled environment with respect to all required Milestones

Why are you refusing to use this option? which is the reason?

should be good start to request an ecosystem grant, with a beta/demo of the game itself, that anyone can try and really say if it’s fun or not

That is why I would say that the most appropriate thing would be a community grant.

I took part in the Take Flight event after getting involved with the MOVR Crowdloan on Kusama. After all of the Take Flight distribution had taken place I joined a few Telegram Groups and one of them LordGLMR’s TFA Group. I joined the Group and realized that the whole community was refreshingly open to every aspect of Moonbeam education. The community started to grow and we now have a Group of amazing GLMR knowledge and enthusiasm.
This Group had been a wealth of knowledge to me and I have made many new friends during my time in the TFA Group.

This is why Teams like TFA need the full support of this Ecosystem!

We appreciate your perspective on the matter, and we understand that trust is a vital aspect of any collaborative community. However, we want to clarify that our decision to not make our code fully open source during the development phase is not a reflection of our trust or lack thereof in specific individuals, including the Moonbeam treasury council members and core developers.

As a project, we believe in taking a strategic approach to code sharing and intellectual property protection. Our decision is based on careful considerations of various factors, including project dynamics, security concerns, and strategic goals. It is important to note that different projects have different approaches to code transparency, and it does not directly imply a lack of trust.

We value collaboration and transparency, and we are open to discussions to address any concerns or questions you may have. However, it is inappropriate to make assumptions about our trust in individuals or teams based solely on our approach to code sharing. Trust is built on a foundation of mutual respect, effective communication, and shared goals, as those values are also part of Moonbeam’s Code of Conduct.

We invite you to engage in constructive dialogue where we can further clarify our intentions, share our vision, and address any specific concerns you may have. We aim to foster a productive and inclusive community where diverse perspectives contribute to the success of the project.

Furthermore, as @mr.madara_666 already has asked in the message before, to gain a better understanding and explore potential synergies, we kindly request you to provide examples of projects that have made their code fully open source during the development phase. This would enable us to assess their business plans, learn from their strategies, and evaluate the feasibility of adopting certain elements into our own project. We value your insights and look forward to reviewing the projects you recommend.

@jose.crypto – this is an excellent observation! To my thinking, the community events are helpful and valuable, but the real unique key to this proposal is the game. If the game is good and attracts users, then the proposal will have been a good decision. But if the game doesn’t catch on, then we might regret this expenditure. The game could be a complete dud – or it could be really awesome! How will we know? Your idea to do the game first would let us get some feedback on the game.
