Moonbeam Governance Guild (MGG): Term 2

Hey everyone,

We’re thrilled to announce the launch of the Second Term of the Moonbeam Governance Guild (MGG), continuing our mission to empower the Moonbeam and Moonriver community in shaping the decentralized governance of our networks.

Summary of the Term 1

With the first term of the Moonbeam Governance Guild coming to a close, we’re happy to say it’s been a strong start. One of the clearest signs of success is how active the delegates have been—most kept a voting rate of 90% or higher. When tough or contentious proposals came up, delegates didn’t shy away from the conversation. They showed up in the Forum, shared their thoughts, and followed through with their votes. This kind of participation is exactly what the MGG is about: thoughtful, transparent governance powered by community members who care. Huge thanks to all the Term 1 delegates—you set the bar high!

Below are the voting statistics for each delegate:

Key Details

The MGG remains committed to distributing governance responsibilities by delegating 5 million GLMR and 50,000 MOVR tokens to 10 dedicated delegates (5 for Moonbeam and 5 for Moonriver). This initiative fosters a vibrant, transparent, and representative governance ecosystem.

  • Application Period: 15 May - 22 May, 2025 (6pm UTC)
  • Application Form: https://forms.gle/M2DokHUzsE5eZM477
  • Term Length: Delegates will serve a 6-month term to ensure fresh perspectives and independent decision making.
  • Accountability: Delegates must maintain transparency through regular voting reports on social platforms, updates on the Moonbeam Forum, and program-wide metrics (details to be shared with the candidates).
  • Incentives: Delegates will receive 50% of the staking rewards from the delegated token amount as a reward for their active participation. Selected candidates must complete a KYC process.

Recruitment Process

Starting today, we invite passionate community members to apply for a MGG Delegate role by completing the application form. Applications will be evaluated based on:

  • Community standing
  • Governance participation
  • Social presence

The recruitment process will run for 7 days, with selections made by the Moonbeam Foundation (MBF) at their discretion. Candidates will be chosen for their alignment with Moonbeam’s values, expertise, and proven track record in network governance.

Delegate Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in Forum discussions, vote on proposals, and provide monthly updates in the form of a Delegation Report sharing insights and reasoning behind each vote.
  • Engage in educational outreach and produce quarterly edu-content about key features of a proposal, tech updates, and governance insights. The content piece is subject to evaluation and needs to be of certain quality (criteria to be shared during the onboarding process).
  • Create and maintain a Community Delegate profile on the Karma dashboard.
  • Ensure full transparency during the application process and throughout the term.

Oversight and Support

The Moonbeam Foundation will continue to oversee the MGG, from delegate selection to ongoing support. Delegate performance will be evaluated twice during the term.

We’re excited to see applications from delegates of the Term 1 and community members eager to shape the future of Moonbeam and Moonriver. Join us in building a stronger, more inclusive governance model!

As a delegate for the first edition of the Moonbeam Governance Guild, I can say that the experience has been exciting, challenging, and deeply rewarding. Actively participating in on-chain decisions, debating issues that shape the ecosystem, and providing an independent and informed voice is exactly what it means to be a decentralized governance actor. For me, is a concrete commitment to Web3 values: transparency, accountability, and collective participation. Joining the MGG is much more than a role, it’s contributing to building the political culture of Moonbeam and Moonriver. I recommend it to anyone who wants to make a real impact.
